EMPLOYMENT CONTINUES TO BREAK RECORDS
AT TULSA PORT OF CATOOSA
The total number ofemployees working in
the 52 businesses in the 'Tulsa Port of Catoosa's
industrial park rose to 2,866 at the end of the first
quarter, an all-time record, according to Jerry
Goodwin, chairman, City of Fulsa- Rogers County
Port Authority. There were 2,733 recorded at the
end of December.
"Most of the increase is coming from the
large, established companies such as Air -X-
Changers, Matrix Services, Pro -Quip and Motor
Guide Marine," said Goodwin.
"The total number of businesses at the
Port has remained steady for the past several
years. Some have come and some have gone.
Many of those who have come brought more jobs
.with them and have prospered in the Port
environment."
According to a recent poll of Port business
Page 4
managers, employment is expected to continue to
rise in the second quarter of the year.
The Tulsa Port of Catoosa, situated at the
head of navigation for the McClellan -Kerr
Arkansas River Navigation System, is one of the
country's largest inland, ice -free ports and
intermodal transportation centers. The Port's
2,040 -acre business complex offers industrial sites
for lease or sale. Many of the companies are
located at the Port because of the transportation
options and savings that waterway shipping can
bring.
The 445 -mile waterway links Oklahoma
and the surrounding five -state areas with ports on
the Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, and Mississippi river
systems, and foreign and domestic ports beyond
by way of New Orleans and the Gulf Intracoastal
Waterway.
Aerial photo of the Tulsa Port of Catoosa, head of navigation for the McClellan -Kea
Arkansas River Navigation System and home to 52 businesses with'over 2,800 employees.
