About 376 million visits were <br />recorded last year. <br />... that barges account for about 15 <br />percent of the freight moved throughout the <br />United States, but at only about two percent of <br />the freight bill? <br />that, according to the EPA, <br />towboats emit 35-60 percent fewer pollutants <br />than locomotives or trucks? <br />... that with every 15 -barge tow on <br />our rivers, there are 870 fewer semi - trailer <br />trucks on: our highways — resulting in <br />significantly less traffic, accidents, noise and <br />fuel usage? <br />... that nearly 500 U.S. grain transfer <br />facilities are served by water transportation, <br />with the largest number — over 140 facilities — <br />located on the Upper Mississippi River and the <br />111inois Waterway? <br />Name <br />Business Affiliation <br />Mailing Address _ <br />City/State/Zip <br />(Phone) <br />Yearly Dues: <br />OKLAHOMA AQUARIUM <br />CONSTRUCTION BEGINS <br />Conshuctionhas begun on the OklahomaAgnarium, <br />which will be opening on the banks of the Arkansas River in <br />Jenks, Okla, during the summer of 2002. <br />The aquarium will be located on 34 acres and will <br />display and provide education about thousands of aquatic <br />animals, as well as opportunities for hands -on aquatic <br />education at facility wet labs. <br />The $15- million nonprofit aquarium will be housed <br />in a60,000 square foot facility that will feature more than 200 <br />exhibits, including the 'Karl and Beverly White National <br />Fishing Museum. The Museum will house one of the most <br />comprehensive antique tackle collections in the world. The <br />collection is worth about $4 million and is comprised of <br />about 30,000 artifacts. <br />Other exhibits will showcase both fresh water and <br />salt water animals — including turtles, sharks, piranhas and <br />Oklahoma's 240 native fish.
