Town officials Monday eve- ning approved a memorandum of understanding with the Southeast Colorado Water Conservancy District to partic- ipate in the Preferred Storage Options Plan to •enlarge the two reservoirs by up to 94,000 acre feet. Pat Alderton; town Adminis trator and clerk, said the fees would be Poncha's share for implementation of the plan for legal, engineering, accounting, consulting and administrative costs. Total cost for the implemen- tation plan is estimated at just over $2 million: Costs are to be shared between participants based on the number -of acre feet they propose to lease. Alderton said Steve Mon-` son, the town's water'attorney, recommended Poncha reserve 125 acre feet of storage, an amount representing -.334 per -. cent of the total enlargement storage proposed. Alderton said the imple- mentation budget only repre- sents costs associated with planning for the 'enlargement. Actual construction costs are to be determined after Con -, greys approves the plan.
