The Pueblo Chieftain Online <br />Page 2 of 2 <br />the exchange water this year, and has bypassed less than the required amount <br />on several other occasions, according to a spokesman for the Colorado River <br />district. <br />After discussing the issues in executive session, the board authorized its legal <br />staff to make a settlement proposal to the Colorado district, and to continue <br />settlement negotiations with Aspen. <br />"I'm pretty optimistic about reaching agreement with the river district, less <br />certain about Aspen," Leonhardt said after the meeting. <br />The PSOP legislation, introduced by Rep. Joel Hefley, R- Colorado Springs, would <br />authorize storage of water that is not from the Frying pan- Arkansas Project in <br />Lake Pueblo and a feasibility study of enlarging Pueblo and Turquoise <br />reservoirs. It is supported by Reps. Bob Beauprez and Tom Tancredo, but has <br />not been endorsed by the remainder of Colorado's federal delegation.
