Advancing knowledge of regional hydrologic systems. <br />b. Advancing understanding of hydrologic processes. <br />C. Providing information useful to multiple parties in potentially <br />contentious inter - jurisdictional conflicts over water resources. <br />d Furnishing hydrologic data required for interstate or international <br />compacts, Federal law, court decrees, and congressionally mandated <br />studies. <br />e. Contributing data to national databases that will be used to advance the <br />understanding of regional and temporal variations in hydrologic conditions. <br />2. Flood forecasting and mitigation. <br />a. Furnishing hydrologic data or information that contribute to protection of <br />life and property. <br />b. Providing data for use by flood management agencies such as the <br />National Weather Service and local and state emergency management <br />agencies. <br />3. Water supply and demand. <br />a. Furnishing data used in determining short- and long -term availability of <br />water. <br />b. Provi-ding_ data to be used-, for the administration of water rights:- -- - -- <br />C. Providing data to be used for the administration of minimum streamflows. <br />4. Monitoring long -term trends in steamflow. <br />a.
