News and Notes from the <br />SOUTHEASTERN COLORADO WATER CONSERVANCY DISTRICT <br />VOLUME 2, ISSUE 7 SEPTEMBER 30, 2003 <br />INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN SECWCD AND THE CITY OF AURORA <br />After several months of meetings with Aurora, the <br />Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy Dis- <br />trict (District) Board of Directors voted 13 -1 agreeing <br />to enter into an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) <br />with the City of Aurora (Aurora). During this time pe- <br />riod the District featured many presentations and dis- <br />cussions regarding the terms of the IGA between the <br />District and Aurora, which Board members and <br />the public had a chance to comment and ques- <br />tion the details of the agreement. The IGA has <br />resolved the conflict over Aurora's use of the <br />excess capacity in the Fry -Ark Project in Lake <br />Pueblo Reservoir. <br />Board President Alan Hamel, Director Bill <br />Long, General Manager <br />FRYINGPAN— ARKANSAS Jim Broderick along with <br />PROJECT TOUR District legal counsel <br />Steve Leonhardt were di- <br />rected to enter into nego- <br />"' tiations and focus on a <br />_r more viable agreement <br />On August 25 <br />and 26, a tour was <br />held for legisla- <br />tive staff mem- <br />bers to see what <br />the Fryingpan- <br />Arkansas Project <br />is all about. <br />Ray Kogovsek <br />and Christine Ar- <br />bogast, SECWCD <br />lobbyist for the <br />Preferred Storage <br />Options Plan <br />(PSOP) legisla- <br />tion, contacted <br />(See TOUR on page 3) <br />From left to right (top): Dawn Wiedmeier, Lee Miller, Dale Jones, <br />Brian Person, Melissa Simpson, Christine Arbogast, James Brode r- <br />ick, Alan Hamel, Mac Zimmerman, and Andy Colosimo.
