Page 1 of 2 <br />Lower Arkansas River Comprehensive Data Base and <br />Data Assessment <br />Study Area: Lower Arkansas River <br />Basin downstream from the vicinity of <br />Canon City, Colorado to the Kansas state <br />line in Bent, Crowley, Otero, Prowers, <br />and Pueblo Counties <br />Period of Project: November 2001 - <br />September 2002 <br />Project Number: C0432 <br />Project Chief: David_.W.._Litke <br />Cooperator: Colorado Department of Public Health and the <br />Environment <br />BACKGROUND: <br />References Portions of the Arkansas River in Colorado and Kansas have been <br />included on those State's 303(d) Lists of Impaired Waters. As a <br />Email for result, the States have committed to work jointly to adopt standards <br />Information and to identify and implement management strategies to reduce <br />constituent concentrations and loads. Available ground -water and <br />surface -water quality data need to be compiled so that stakeholders <br />can adequately assess factors that have affected historic and current <br />water - quality. <br />Targeted constituents to include in the data base are: <br />. total dissolved solids, <br />. specific conductance, <br />. salinity, <br />. pH, <br />. water temperature, <br />. dissolved oxygen, <br />. sulfate, <br />. other major ions, uranium, selenium, and nutrients. <br />Ancillary data sets, such as streamflow information and ground- <br />water levels, and selected GIS (Geographic Information System) <br />digital data sets also need to be compiled and included in a data <br />base. <br />OBJECTIVES: <br />.
