Ruedi Reservoir was authorized in 1962 as part of Fryingpan - Arkansas Project. The
primary purpose of Ruedi Reservoir is to provide compensatory storage for Western Colorado to help
offset the effects of transmountain diversions to the Arkansas River Basin. Ruedi Reservoir
operations are governed by the Operating Principles described in House Document No. 130, 87th
Congress.
Ruedi Reservoir provides 101,278 AF of active storage. The active storage provides 28,000
AF of replacement capacity and 51,500 AF of Regulatory Capacity with the balance held in reserve
for recreation and to cover any potential shortages. The regulatory capacity is divided up as follows:
Round I Sales - 7,850 AF
EIS Endangered Fish - 5,000 AF (permanent)
2
2nd Endangered Fish - 10,000 AF (temporary)
l
Round IIn'/'& Domestic - 12,4/
Round II Industrial - 14,967
Remaining - 1,273
