western slope that divert water into eight tunnels with a com-
bined length of 21.5 miles. The tunnels convey= the diverted
water into the inlet portal of the Boustead Tunnel, the tours
next stop.
At the Boustead Tunnel tour participants were able to see
and understand the dynamics of the Fryingpan- Arkansas Pro-
ject. An appreciation was expressed for the incredible fore-
thought the men and women of southeastern Colorado had to
develop and construct such a complex system that took 26
years to build.
After a mouthwatering picnic lunch the tour headed over
Hagerman Pass. The Pass traverses from
the western slope, crosses over the Con-
tinental Divide, at 12,000 feet above sea
level, to the eastern slope. The tour
ended back at SECWCD office.
August 24 & 25, 2005-The District and
the Bureau of Reclamation also hosted a
tour for the representatives from our
legislative delegation's staff. The tour
included the South Side Collection Sys-
tem, Pueblo Dam, Mt. Elbert Power
plant at Twin Lakes, the Otero Pump
Station, and a night stay= in Glenwood
Spring at the Colorado Hotel. A short
stop was made to take the photo on the
left on Hagerman Pass at an elevation of
11,925 feet.
If you are interested in learning more
about the Fryingpan- Arkansas Project
and participating in a
tour, please contact
Leann Noga at 719-
948 -2400.
...... ............................... ^ ... ............................... .................... ., - - - --
' In 2005 the SECWCD added an addition onto the M5-
trict office building. The expansion included four of-
--add
fices and a small conference room
AMA .
If you are interested in a tour of our facilities please call
Before
Leann Noga at (719) 948 -0023.
SECWCD
Bud[ in
Expan5ion
5
