to implement the Colorado River Enhanced Snowpack Test (CREST) in
FY 1983 which will provide for the transition of the cloud seeding
technology from research to large scale operations through a
demonstration program. Confirmation of the capability of cloud seeding
to augment snowpack in the CREST program could result in basinwide
operational cloud seeding by 1991. The added amounts of water will be
quite important as our growing population pushes the environment to the
limits of its carrying capacity.
