1 DRAFT <br />2 <br />3 105th Congress <br />4 Session <br />5 <br />6 <br />7 <br />8 IN THE SENATE/HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE UNITED <br />9 STATES <br />10 <br />11 Mr. introduced the following bill; which was read twice and referred to the <br />12 Committee on-------------------------------- <br />13 <br />14 A BILL <br />15 <br />16 To authorize the Secretary of the Interior to provide funding for the <br />17 implementation of the endangered fish recovery implementation programs for the <br />18 Upper Colorado and San Juan River Basins. <br />19 <br />20 Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United <br />21 States ofAmerica in Congress assembled, <br />22 <br />23 Section 1. SHORT TITLE. - -This Act may be cited as the "Upper Colorado River <br />24 and San Juan River Endangered Fish Recovery Act of 1997." <br />25 Section 2. PURPOSE.- -The purpose of the "Upper Colorado River and the San <br />26 Juan River Endangered Fish Recovery Act of 1997" is to authorize and provide <br />27 funding for the Secretary, acting through the Bureau of Reclamation and the <br />28 Bureau of Indian Affairs, to continue implementation of the endangered fish <br />29 recovery implementation programs for the Upper Colorado and San Juan River <br />30 Basins in order to accomplish the objectives of these programs within a currently <br />31 established time schedule. <br />32 Section 3. DEFINITIONS. - -As used in this Act: <br />33 (a) the term "Recovery Implementation Programs" means the <br />34 intergovernmental programs established pursuant to the 1988 Cooperative <br />35 Agreement to implement the Recovery Implementation Program for the <br />36 Endangered Fish Species in the Upper Colorado River dated September <br />37 29, 1987 and the 1992 Cooperative Agreement to implement the San Juan <br />11/10/97 <br />
