I.R. AD.A!!S: I-Ir. Patterson, I a-;--.I ,ir. Adaris fro ;1 the Denver Regional
office of the Federal rower CoiiTmission. I have no state.ient except to say
that the Federal Power Coixiission's direct interest in such a. hearing as
this and in floor: control ?roblems under this particular act is in con-
nection with the developi, ient of power. That is, in cooperation Faith the
liar Depart:ient, the Federal Power Coipa!iission is directed under this act
to investigate the feasibility of A)rovidir,; for future power development.
COIF. HOGF: Thank. you, : r. Adaias.
Tu. PATT'RSOh: TI'Ie Public Works .Ldministration or the "'iorks Progress
Adrlinistration or the Public I-lea.lth Service. Are there any other federal
a {;enc, ies that I have not r.ientioned in this list that are reiresented here?
(No response.)
I.It. PATTERSON: Turning to the State of Colorado officials and a:,;encies
of that state, I notice that ivir. iinderlider, the State Engineer is here,
and I believe he has a statei.ient to present. I -,ii-;ht state for the record
that ,Ir. Hinderlider's office is in charge of the ,.cork of streail au,-ing
in connection with tl.e geological survey, and thEit you will find the records
of the state as to strea.l flows in tliat office. Ile also has cliarG e of the
ad- ainistration of water rights in this irri ration division and each of the
districts in this division. The records as to the priority dates and amounts
of those water rights are recorded in his office. And, thirdly, the State
:Engineer supervises or rather approves }0lans for the construction of darns
over ten feet hi.-h, which -:lust be submitted to Iiis office for ap- proval, and
the construction worl1. carried; on under his direction.
I don't want to _:lake I:r. Ilinderlider's speech for him, but I did want
it to ap_oear in the record as the general authority of that agency.
I:r. Hinderlider.
::R. HII,'M LID2h: Thank you, Idr. Patterson, for that little state, ient.
Col. (loge and 7ir. Cormaugh.ton, with your per fission I have a state, lent which
I would like to read to this gathering, because it had pertinent data that
I think the water users possibly riay be interested. in, and if it were. merely
-26-
