Lake Mead Operations
1) Lake Mead will operate to meet downstream demand, except when
additional releases are necessary to meet the Corps of Engineers flood
control procedures.
2) The Record of Decision for Interim Surplus Guidelines (as modeled in the
ISG -FEIS) is used to determine surplus conditions. The surplus criteria are in
effect for a 12 -year period beginning on January 1, 2005 and ending
December 31, 2016. At the conclusion of the 12 -year period, the surplus
criteria revert to the 70R Strategy.
3) The shortage assumptions used in the SIA -FEIS (Volume II, Appendix G)
are not applied to the operation of Lake Mead.
