Lake Mead <br />• Lake Mead storage at the end of August 2005 is 15.351 MAF <br />and is projected to be about 15.223 MAF at the end of the <br />Water Year. <br />• Storage in Mead is almost always about equal to <br />because of equalization required between the 2 <br />that in Powell <br />reservoirs. <br />• However, since Powell is below the 602(a) storage level <br />minimum objective release is 8.23 MAF pursuant to <br />Coordinated Long -Range Operating Criteria. <br />the <br />the' <br />• This is because the Upper Basin to date has acquiesced to i <br />8.23 MAF release and thus Mead only drops 0.8 to 0.9 MAF <br />year <br />during <br />drought <br />conditions. Currently, Mead is <br />and <br />Powell <br />is 11.995 <br />MAF. <br />15.223 P <br />A quick look at storage elevations in Mead shows they are <br />, in <br />currently sitting at about 1138 which is well above the minimum <br />power elevation of 1050 and well above Southern Nevada's <br />intakes which are at 1047 and 1000 feet MSL respectively. <br />Under the Interim Surplus Guidelines, Mead is projected to be <br />above elevation 1125 on January 1 and thus the Lower Basin <br />would be entitled to a partial domestic surplus (250,,000 to <br />300,000 AF). <br />
