CARLSON, HAMMOND & PADDOCK, L.L.C.
MEMORANDUM
C V
To: Chip Cutler > ed /- 9660
From: Bill Paddock
Date: December 1, 2000
Re: Historical Research
I need to have you root around in the state records to try to find the following
publications:
1. "Ground Water in Colorado and the Status of Investigations" by Thad G.
McLaughlin, USGS and Colorado Water Conservation Board, January 1956. I
suspect that the CWCB is the best place to look for this.
2. See page 10 of the attached report, 2' full paragraph. I would like a copy of the
petition filed with the Ground Water Commission and any other information in is
files concerning the designation of the Closed Basin area as a critical district or, later
in 1968 -70, as a designated ground water basin. You will need to talk to someone
at the Ground Water Commission staff, State Engineer's Office to see how they
keep their files and how they are stored. It may be that this information has been
put in the state archives. It is more likely that it is a sub - basement storage bin at
1313 Sherman Street, and it will be hard to find.
3. In about 1968 -1970 the Colorado water Conservation Board had a study done
about making the Closed Basin Area of Water Division No. 3 into a designated
.ground water basin. I think the study was done by W.W Wheeler & Assoc. Will
you see if you can find a copy at the Water Conservation Board?
The time should be split between 183 and 248.
30
