FA
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
The success of the Eagle Mine cleanup is measured in several ways. Success of the actual
remedial actions is measured directly through revegetation monitoring, erosion and settlement
monitoring at the Consolidated Tailings Pile. Revegetation criteria have been met in all areas.
Monitoring conducted to date at the Consolidated Tailings Pile indicates no problems with either
settlement or erosion.
A strong downward trend in zinc and cadmium concentrations in the Eagle River has occurred,
and populations of trout and aquatic bugs have increased. Biological data are being used to
establish water quality standards for the Eagle River.
