The facilities that are included in the design for sediment removal from Bob Creek
inflow and the reconfiguration of the outlet (so that it is not routed through the low
point of the reservoir) will result in the release of less sediment to the Arkansas
River.
SOCIAL, LOCAL ECONOMIC, AND PHYSICAL IMPACTS
The project will have short and long -term positive social effects to the area,
particularly if the current drought conditions continue. Without the new channel, the cost
for water will continue to increase (because of maintenance dredging) and it is possible
that an increase in the dead storage pool will be unavoidable, resulting in less water
availability. The project will therefore ensure continued availability of water for local
agriculture. In addition, the construction project will provide employment for up to four
additional people, at a time when unemployment is expected because of the drought.
The project will not result in negative physical impacts.
CONCLUSIONS
1. The Lake Meredith Reservoir Company is an incorporated entity in the State of
Colorado with the ability to enter into a contract with the CWCB for the purpose of
obtaining a Construction Fund loan.
Lake Meredith Res.
