Existing Water Right Information
Staff has analyzed the water rights tabulation and consulted with the Division Engineer Office
(DEO) to identify any potential water availability problems. There are no decreed surface
diversions within this reach of stream. Based on this analysis staff has determined that water is
available for appropriation on Little Dolores River, between the confluence with Bieser Creek
and the Upper Saxbury Ditch, to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree without
limiting or foreclosing the exercise of valid existing water rights.
CWCB Staff's Instream Flow Recommendation
Staff recommends the Board form its intent to appropriate on the following stream reach:
Segment: confluence Bieser Creek to Upper Saxbury Ditch
Upper Terminus: confluence Bieser Creek
(Latitude 38° 59' 13"N) (Longitude 108° 54' 48"W)
UTM=43 17 190N 12 6 80 744 E
SW NW S28 T12S R103W 6PM
1230' East of West Section Line 2000' South of North Section Line
Lower Terminus: Upper Saxbury Ditch
(Latitude 39° 00' 28"N) (Longitude 108° 56' 12"W)
UTM=43 19 472N 12 6 78 657E
SE SE S18 T12S R103W 6PM
360' West of East Section Line 450' North of South Section Line
Watershed: Westwater Canyon(HUC#: 14030001)
Counties: Mesa County
Length: 2.5 miles
USGS Quad(s): Bieser Creek, Sieber Canyon
Flow Recommendation: 2.4 cfs (April 1st—July 31st)
1.6 cfs (August 1st—October 31st)
1.0 cfs (November 1St—March 31St)
- 5 -
