I Ly vv, <br />C1TS OF 13OULDER OPEN SPACE BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE O1'EN SPACE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN <br />SUPPORT OP TFIE COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />PROTECTION OF THE NATURAL LAKE LEVELS AT J13WI LL <br />MOUNTAIN Y "MT <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, is responsible for the <br />appropriation, acquisition and protection of instrcam flow and natural lair, t vel water <br />rights to preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree, and is evaluating if the <br />Jcwall Mountain Lake merits such protection, <br />WHEREAS the City of Boulder Open Space Charter includes the preservation of water <br />resources in their natural or tradition& state, <br />WHEREAS, the Jewell Mountain Lake is a unique, low elevation natural lake located <br />entirely on City of Boulder Open Space and Mot.mtaiil Parks land, <br />WHEREAS, the Jewell Mountain Lake's natural environment descrying of protection <br />includes Nvater fowl habitat and aquatic animal species such as the western painted turtle <br />(Clilyselnys pieta beliti), tiger salamander, (Ambysionta iigrinusrn), and leopard frog <br />(Rana pipiens), <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City of Boulder Open Space Board of <br />Trustees: <br />1) Supports and encourages the Colorado Water Conservation Board in procealing with <br />protecting the Jewell Mountain Lake through a natural lake level appropriation. <br />2) Appreciates the past efforts and looks forward to future efforts by the Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board in protecting water resources for the natural cnvironinent in the <br />Colorado. <br />Christopher u ' 1cr, Chair Date <br />
