Buff bashing included at no extra charge.
Original Message
From: Vanburen, Randy
Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 10:28 AM
To: Skinner, Jay
Cc: Puttmann, Steve
Subject: RE: Jewel Mountain Lake
Very shallow, The crew reported they could walk across it, but no depths
were taken. The Boulder (aka LOSER) GIS people have digitized it into
their database, and it has a surface acreage of 6.87 acres, but is
classified as ephemeral, however my open space ranger contact says he has
never seen it dry.
Let me clarify a point here, the GIS people are not the LOSERS, but
rather the football team or actually any of the sports teams from the snob
school down there are losers when it comes to contests with CSU. In the
case of the football team, they are pretty much all- around losers...Fresno
State ? ?!! ? ?! The biggest losers are the poor bastards who call themselves
fans of the snob school. P. S. I am not at my desk any more today, so I
suspect I haven't heard the last of you, especially after you have the
-hance to stay up all night to think of a snappy comeback! I love being
Dm the hick school that kicks the snob school's ass on a routine basis!
Original Message
From: Skinner, Jay
Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 10:04 AM
To: Vanburen, Randy
Subject: RE: Jewel Mountain Lake
Randy- Any physical data? Size, depth, soundings, etc.?
Original Message
From: Vanburen, Randy
Sent: Thursday, August 30, 2001 9:37 AM
To: Skinner, Jay
Cc: Puttmann, Steve
Subject: RE: Jewel Mountain Lake
Jay, It belongs to City of Boulder Open
Space. I sampled it in 1999, and found only painted turtles and tiger
salamander larvae, no fish. We are looking at monitoring the water level
and quality, and trying to get plains topminnows established, which would
tolerate low water conditions. Then after we find out if the topminnows can
survive, I will eventually put some of our compatible threatened species in
it such as common shiners, brassy minnows, or northern redbelly dace. We
set 2 gillnets and 3 trapnets on 8/10/99, pulled the nets on 8/11/99 after
an 18 hour set, and caught 51 paionted turtles, and one tiger salamander
larvae. I haven't applied for a water code yet, but I need to do that since
vill probably move the topminnows within a couple of
;eks actually I will apply for a code later this fall when I'm not
the field, and move the topminnows now.
