VI►ri ['ND rnn „v, (LW ■v, <br />CITY OF 130ULAER OPEN SPACE BOARD OF TRUSTEES RESOLUTION <br />A RESOLUTION OF TIIE OPEN SPACE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IN <br />SUPPORT OF THE COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />PROTECTION OF THE NATURAL LAKE LEMS AT JEWELL <br />MOUNTAIN LM i <br />WHLREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, is responsible for the <br />appropriation, acquisition and protection of instrcam flow and natural IA, !,..vol water <br />rights 10 preserve the natural environment to a reasonable degree, and is evaluating if the <br />Jewell Mountain Lake merits such protection, <br />W1•il3RLAS the City of Boulder Open Space Charter includes the preservation of water <br />resources in their tiahn-a1 or traditional state, <br />WHEREAS, the 30411 Mountain Lake is a unique, low elevation natural lake located <br />entirely on City of Boulder Open Space and MVlouutaiti Parks land, <br />WHEREAS, the Jewell Mountain Lake's natural environment descrying of protection <br />includes %vater fowl habitat and aquatic animal species such as the western painted turtle <br />(Chlyse/nys plater belit),.tiger salamander, (Ambysie nan 1.igrinurn), and leopard frog <br />(Ran pipiens), <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City of Boulder Open Space Board of <br />Tfuste.es: <br />1) Supports and encourages the Colorado Water Conservation Board in proceeding with <br />protecting the Jewell Mountain Lake through a natural lake level appropriation. <br />2) Appreciates the past efforts and looks forward to future efforts by the Coltnrado Water <br />Conservation Board in protecting water resources for the natural cnvironinent in the <br />Colorado. <br />r U <br />ql:441* 19_k_;64642..,. <br />Christopher u lcr, Chair Date <br />
