Additional Information to describe the Operations and Evaluation of the Project
Many design and operational features of this program have been based upon the findings and
experience learned through operating the Bureau of Reclamation's Colorado River Basin Pilot Project in
the upper San Juan River Basin. The placement of ground -based generators, identification of storm
systems with favorable modification potential and concern for public safety and awareness through
reasonable operations are specifically some of the refinements to be incorporated into the proposed
wintertime weather modification program. An operational report will be furnished to the program
participants and the Director of Natural Resources following each seeding season in which precipitation
within the project area will be indicated with any pertinent comments to comparison with respect to
normal or precipitation in adjacent areas. The proposed program will be operated nearly identical to
programs operated by Western Weather Consultants LLC during the past 35years in Colorado.
Evaluations of these programs have been consistent with research findings from the San Juan CRBPP
Program and the Vail Operational Evaluation. Both of these evaluation studies were completed by
Western Weather Consultants LLC.
