Timeline <br />Task Time <br />1 -2 November — December 2009 <br />3 November 2009 — April 2010 <br />4 -5 February — July 2010 <br />6 April — August 2010 <br />7 November 2009 — September 2010 <br />Deliverables will consist of- <br />-- Documentation of input data requirements, computation procedures and algorithms to <br />calculate the Colorado Modified Palmer Drought Severity Index and the Standardized <br />Precipitation Index <br />-- Time series, 1951 -2009 of monthly values of SPI and CMPDSI and statistical summary <br />of the differences and similarities of these indices <br />-- Expert opinion and explanation for why either or both indices should be included in <br />ongoing drought monitoring and response efforts. <br />-- Detailed monitoring strategy which outlines the responsibilities, goals and steps for <br />implementation for state /local entities and water providers. <br />-- Assessment of statewide trigger points and responses including role of task forces and <br />timelines illustrating responses to trigger points before and after drought conditions exist. <br />-- Report describing "best practice" recommendation for using SPI, CMPDSI and SWSI. <br />-- Summary presentations to the CWCB, the Water Availability Task Force, and other <br />groups as needed <br />Budget <br />The bulk of this drought monitoring and evaluation work will be done by Wendy Ryan <br />and John Kleist. Zach Schwalbe will assist with climate data review and quality control. <br />Becky Smith will provide computer programming assistance during the summer of 2010 <br />supported by NIDIS. Nolan Doesken will oversee the project and collaborate with the <br />CWCB staff and Drought Response Plan consultant. <br />
