<br />Proiect Description
<br />The Bijou Irrigation Distirict is a Colorado non-profit corporation, providing irrigation water to a 24,000-
<br />acre service area in Weld and Morgan Counties, west and south of Fort Morgan. The Company has direct
<br />flow rights at the Bijou Canal Diversion on the South Platte, and maintains about 90 miles of ditch, Bijou
<br />No. 2 Reservoir, and some augmentation ponds. The original project was to only repair the river diversion
<br />portion of the structure by constructing a 100 foot long Obermeyer Pneumatic Spillway Gate, located
<br />immediately adjacent to the river radial gate and the canal intake structure. Upon further field investigation,
<br />however, it became apparent that the entire structure needed to be replaced; involving not only 100 feet of
<br />Obermeyer Gates, but 180 feet of a concrete rollover dam, and a new intake structure and control house.
<br />The final project cost increased from an estimated $750,000 to $2,100,000.
