<br />Proiect Description
<br />The Logan Irrigation District was formed in 1910 and operates under the Irrigation District Law of
<br />1905, levying an acreage assessment to its members. Prewitt reservoir provides supplemental irrigation
<br />water for approximately 28,000 acres, well augmentation, and recreation. The reservoir is an off-stream
<br />reservoir constructed in 1910-12. The dam is a Medium Size, Class 1 Dam, with a height of 36 feet at GH
<br />35.5, and a length of 3.5 miles. Maximum storage is 32,300 acre feet (GH 28.0), but the reservoir was
<br />restricted to 28,600 acre feet (GH 26.5), due to an inadequate spillway and seepage. This project involved
<br />the construction of an emergency spillway to pass the 75% PMP, therefore allowing the District to maintain
<br />the 28,600 acre-foot of storage. The District will need to address the seepage issue to obtain their full
<br />storage capability of 32,200 acre-feet. Construction included a 250 foot long, 72-inch RCP spillway with
<br />an overflow structure upstream of the dam, an energy dissipation structure at the terminal end of the pipe,
<br />and a short channel to the Prewitt outlet canal.
