Gimbel
CWCB Director
The Colorado River Basin States and the Department of Interior have a unique and special role in
managing the Colorado River. Recently the Colorado River Basin States representatives met with
Secretary Salazar in Phoenix, Arizona to discuss several challenges we are facing regarding the Colorado
River. Secretary Salazar graciously offered to host a meeting with the Colorado River Basin States in
Washington, D.C. to continue this dialogue, and the States' representatives will be meeting with Secretary
Salazar in late November. However, this dialogue is one that must be continuing in nature in order to
achieve balanced and positive results. In an effort to improve communications between the Colorado
River Basin States and your agencies, I would like to propose a meeting between the seven basin states
and yourselves, perhaps directly following the conclusion of the Colorado River Water Users Association
Meeting at 10:30 am on December 17, 2010.
cc: Herb Guenther
Gerald Zimmerman
Patricia Mulroy
Patrick Tyrell
John D'Antonio
Dennis Strong
Don [ostler
E ' bel
Interstate & Federal • watershed Protection & Flood Mitigation • Stream & Lake Protection • finance
Water Information -Water Conservation & Drought Planning -Water Supply Planning
