1. Introduction
This memorandum provides the final documentation for the Acquisition and Preprocessing of Image for
the 2003 Arkansas River Basin Update. The procedures and results for Tasks 2, 3, and 4 are documented
below. The objectives of these tasks are described on pages two and three of RTi's Scope of Work for
Acquisition and Preprocessing of Landsat Imagery and Other Image Data for 2003 Irrigated Lands
Update In The Lower Arkansas River Basin as follows:
Task 2 - Imagery Acquisition. Specification of Landsat and DOQQ imagery acquired from USGS
for the 2003 irrigated lands update in the Lower Arkansas River Basin was developed. The final
selection was confirmed and the required imagery was acquired for the 2003 irrigated lands
update in the Lower Arkansas River Basin.
Task 3 - Creation of an Image Base Map. — Created a seamless digital orthoimage base map in
compressed (MrSID) format. Produced a mosaic of all available and recently acquired DOQQs
in the Lower Arkansas River Basin into a seamless digital orthoimage base map in compressed
MrSID format.
Task 4 — Satellite image preprocessing including georeferencing, corrections and calibration.
Landsat image preprocessing was conducted to prepare the acquired multidate Landsat imagery
for its optimal use in the irrigated lands / crop classification in the 2003 irrigated lands update in
the Lower Arkansas River Basin. Landsat frames will be georeferenced and subsequently
calibrated using currently available DOQQs
2. Methodology
2.1 Costs for Satellite Images and Related Data
Table 1.0 provides a summary of the cost of data that is described in more detail in subsequent sections
of this memo. The costs are for data only and do not include costs for data processing, interpretation, or
analysis.
