Gimbel <br />ht Planning CWCB Director <br />& Drou g g <br />Taryn Hutchins - Cabibi, OWCDP <br />Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning (OWCDP) <br />DATE: September 21, 2010 <br />SUBJECT: City of Rifle, SB 07 -008 Water Efficiency Grant Request <br />Summary of Grant Application <br />The Office of Water Conservation &Drought Planning section (OWCDP) received a Water <br />Efficiency grant application from the City of Rifle, a covered entity located on western slope of <br />Colorado. The City of Rifle has an approved Water Conservation Plan on file with the OWCDP <br />(as of September, 2008). <br />The applicant is requesting $47,085 to aid in developing the following: <br />• Establish landscape and irrigation design requirements for new development that would <br />reduce outdoor water use by 10 %. <br />• Establish high efficiency indoor plumbing requirements for new development & save an <br />estimated 20% of indoor water use. <br />• Create a new conservation web site <br />• Create a water efficient plumbing fixture and appliance policy for the city to save 3.5 ac- <br />ft per years. <br />• Smart irrigation controller rebate program which is estimated to save 2.3 ac -ft annually. <br />• High efficiency toilet and washing machine rebate program that could save 2.9 ac -ft per <br />year. <br />The applicant has demonstrated their financial ability to provide 49.8% of the total project <br />budget with matching funds in the form of $33,325 in monetary contributions and $12,944, in- <br />kind contributions.
