installation of any further transmission facilities in the right -of -way of
Highway 34 since a highway improvement program might necessitate moving the
pipeline. The City recently investigated the possible purchase of an aban-
doned railroad right-of-way from the plaster mill to the vicinity of the
Big Thompson School. At least part of this right - of-way would make an excelr"
lent location for an additional pipeline if constructed. At the request of
the Water Committee, we also investigated the possibility of utilizing an
existing tunnel located northwest of Big Thompson School. Elevations of this
tunnel were determined by field survey and were found to be higher than the
present filters and therefore unsuitable for use.
IMPROVEMENTS ON TRANSMISSION SYSTEM "B"
Again these improvements depend upon the location of additional treat-
ment facilities. Should these facilities be constructed at the present plant
site, the 34 -inch pipeline must be extended approximately 5,000 feet to the
storage tank site. In any case, this 34 -inch line must be extended to the
location of any new treatment plant. This pipeline is extimated to cost
$25.00 per linear foot in place.
- 26 -
