4,000 acre feet - 20%
20,000 acre feet
20% x 75,000 days x $2.25 value = $33,750 annual benefits
2. With 10 floodwater- retarding structures.
6,000 acre feet = 30%
20,000 acre feet
30% x 75,000 visitor days x $2.25 value = $50,625 annual benefits
The preceeding estimates were based on acre feet of sediment pool
storage in lieu of surface acres and depth of the sediment pool, since a
stage storage curve for the Chatfield Reservoir was not available.
B. Estimated possible floodwater retention storage in acre feet
that could be available for exchanged use.
Normally exchange of downstream storage for upstream storage is
not based on an even exchange. Rate of exchange vary with watershed
characteristic. Based on the proximity of structure, an exchange of
12 acre -feet of upstream storage should be acceptable for 1 acre -foot
of downstream storage. Table II shows the estimated amount of
floodwater - retarding space that could be exchanged between upstream and
downstream structures.
