Second Avenue I Durango, CO 81301 i 970.375.5000 j 970375.5098 - Fax <br />«.. <br />tA <br />Community Meeting - Durango Boating Park & RICD <br />The City of Durango has completed an analysis of the <br />development opportunities for a Boating Park and associated in- <br />stream improvements on the Animas River. Recreation <br />Engineering and Planning completed the study which examined a <br />stretch of the river from the 32nd Street Bridge throughout the <br />Animas River corridor to the intake of the Animas La Plata Project <br />across the river from Santa Rita Park. Recommended sites for the <br />Boating Park include Schneider Park and selected locations within <br />Smelter Rapids at the existing Whitewater Park. The City is <br />considering filing an application for a Recreational In- Channel <br />Diversion (RICD) or recreation water right to enable the long <br />term viability of the future Boating Park. <br />All interested members of the community are encouraged <br />to attend a public meeting <br />Monday, February 13, 2006 <br />at 5:30 p.m. <br />Durango Community Recreation Center. <br />The City is seeking community input on the preferred location of <br />the Boating Park and potential RICD water right application. <br />For additional information, contact the Parks and <br />Recreation Department at 375 -7300. <br />added 216106 <br />Go Back <br />ttp: / /www .durangogov.org /news_detail.cfm ?article =757 2/9/200 <br />
