07 -1897 <br />78th Congress <br />1st Session <br />S,J, RES. 55 <br />IN THE SENATE OF THE UNITED STATES <br />May 5 (legislative day, May 3) , 1913 <br />Mr. Wheeler introduced 'the following joint resolution; which was read: twice <br />and referred to the Committee on Indian Affairs <br />JOINT RESOLUT ION <br />To provide for the transfer to the Bureau of Reclamation of functions relating <br />to irrigation projects on Indian reservations. <br />RESOLVED BY THE SENATE AND HOUSE OF REPRESEWTAT IVES OF `THE UNITED STATES <br />OF AMERICA IN CONGRESS ASSEPa$LED, That the functions, powers, and duties of <br />the Bureau of Indian Affairs with respect to irrigation projects on Indian <br />reservations are hereby transferred. to�, and shall be administered by, the <br />Bureau of Reclamation. <br />SEC. 29 All records and property (including office equipment, contracts, <br />agreements',' -and leases) and all personnel used primarily in the administration <br />of such projects, are hereby, transferred to the Bureau of Reclamation for use <br />in the administration of the functions, powers, and duties transferred pursuant <br />to the first section of this joint resolution;' PROVIDED, That any of the <br />personnel of the.Bureau of Indian Affairs transferred by this joint resolution <br />found by the Commissioner of Reclamation to be in .excess of the personnel ne- <br />cessary for the efficient administration of the functions so transferred shall <br />be retransferred under existing law to other positions in the Government service. <br />SEC- 3. The unexpended balances. of `appropriati'ons,, allocations, or other <br />funds (including repayments.) heretofore or hereafter made available for <br />carrying out such projects, shall be transferred to the Bureau of Reclamation <br />and shall be available for `such purposes, subject to any conditions and limi- <br />tations (including obligations chargeable to such appropriations, .allocations,, <br />or other funds) that existed prior, to such transfer. <br />SEC. - 4 t This joint resolution shall become effective on July 1 1943• <br />
