,Town of Vail - Town Council - Town Council Highlights - Archive - October 2, 2001 Page 1 of 10 <br />Y Y <br />QctobeT <br />[ Evening Session Briefs ] [ Upcoming Topics <br />Council Members Present: Donovan, Foley, Kurz, Moffet, Navas, Ogilby, Slifer <br />-- Mountain Bell Site Visit and Discussion of Rezoning and Land Us <br />Plan Amendment <br />In preparation for the evening meeting, the Council visited the Mountain <br />Bell site north of the Main Vail roundabout to review lot lines for <br />preliminary platting and subdividing of the property. The subdivision <br />process creates two lots and an open space parcel. Lot 1, 6.7 acres, <br />would become the site for potential development of employee housing a <br />childcare. Lot 2, 1.1 acres, would contain the Qwest (Mountain Bell) tow <br />The remaining tract, 17 acres, would be preserved as open space. The <br />Land Use Plan amendment for Lot 1 is proposed to be changed from <br />Open Space to High Density Residential and rezoned from Natural Area <br />Preservation District to the Housing Zone District. The remainder of the <br />property, now called the Middle Creek Subdivision, would retain its origi <br />land use designation and zoning. During discussion, Councilmembers <br />learned mitigation measures will be required along Middle Creek to <br />address rock flow and high debris flow hazards. All changes are <br />contingent on final platting approvals, which will be considered in Febru <br />through an application process submitted by the Vail Local Housing <br />Authority. Vail Housing Coordinator Nina Timm said a proposed unit mix <br />and density count for the development would be determined following <br />completion of a phase two market study.
