:;� <br />.; <br />CITY OF FLORENCE <br />MUNICIPAL BUILDING <br />300 West Main Street <br />Florence, Colorado 81226 <br />(719)784-4848 Fax(719)784-0228 <br />August 26, 2004 <br />Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />1580 Logan Street, Suite 750 <br />Denver, CO 80203 <br />Re: City of Florence 2005-2006 Non-Reimbursable Project Application, Oak Creek <br />Reservoir Feasibility Study <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />Attached is an application in the amount of $200,000 to assist the City of Florence, <br />Town of Coal Creek, Town of Rockvale and Town of Williamsburg with funding of a joint <br />U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and City of Florence Feasibility Study. <br />The Feasibility Study's cost to the participating entities is $448,000. This application <br />amount of $200,000, coupled with the entities contribution of an additional $248,000 will <br />insure=that the Feasibility Study, currently underway, is completed. Only by completing <br />� the Feasibility Study will we know if a joint flood control and water storage reservoir, the <br />" Oak Creek Reservoir, can be constructed. <br />Flood protection, storage of decreed water rights and recreational activities could all <br />accrue to citizens in the region. <br />The citizens of Florence, Coal Creek, Williamsburg and Rockvale have currently funded <br />a$13,000,000 water treatment project, currently underway, to comply with EPA and <br />State drinking water standards. The cash to fund this ongoing Feasibility Study has <br />been drawn down by these current water treatment projects. <br />Stalled efforts of the Southeastem Water Conservancy District with the Preferred <br />Storage Options Plan and Enlargement opt'rons limit regional members such as <br />Florence, Canon City and Pueblo West storage options. <br />This Feasibility Study will determine the future <br />potential to a postulated reach of citizens in the <br />Pueblo West, including��fF`i'�•,,Federal Correction <br />Florence. <br />Sin erely you � � <br />� � / '9 <br />J � <br />, � <br />U�� � <br />� �� <br />Thomas H.
