•
•
State Wildlife Area project is only one component of the overall Tamazack plan. The
construction and operational costs for individual projects that eventually contribute to the
Tamazack Plan aze envisioned to be funded with a combination of state and water user dollazs.
The Tamazack Plan will primarily function for the benefit of overail state interests related to
habitat issues.
Task Four - Establish Process for Long-term Agreement and Funding. Already, water users in
the lower South Platte River have utilized the CWCB loan process for improvement projects.
These successes have created a positive reladonship that should prove useful in the future as users
begin to pursue long term reregulation projects that require funding above individual entities
abiliry to pay.
Task Five - Preparation of Reports. The SPLRG has committed to utilize their findings and
information to create a report for the purposes of SB-741egislation, which requires information
outlining the development opportunities and the issues confronting Colorado in the lower South
Platte River. Additionally, a final project report related to the CWCB grant will also be done in
connection with the contract awarded by the CWCB.
► - . : -_, -
In order to continue to identify and develop opportunities to meet needs in the lawer South Platte
River, the SPLRG is requesting an additional grant from the CWCB. The majoriry of the request
(80 %) is associated with continuation of projects involved in the Tamazack Plan to meet
Colorado's possible obligations in a basinwide recovery program. As shown below, this portion
of the request would allow for the construction of four additional wells, the placement of
additional pipeline, and some earthwork to be accomplished in connection with the Tamarack
Plan. This level of development would enlarge the Tamarack Plan to be capable of diverting an
additiona116 cfs, or 32 acre feet per day. In combination with the existing well, the total annual
production of the wells is expected to pump between 7,000 and 10,000 acre feet per year.
The remaining twenty percent of the funds would be utilized to continue existing and new project
development along with informational activities in the lower South Platte River that address
issues other than habitat concerns in central Nebraska. These funds would be combined with
additional water user contributions to follow up and continue existing efforts to reregulate flows
in private systems that would benefit Colorado water users. A summary of the request follows.
SPLRG Grant Request to CWCB
Tamarack Plan
Drill and equip 4 new wells (4 @$15,000) $ 60,000
Distribution Pipeline, purchase and installation (4 @$ 25,000) $ 100,000
Operation and Maintenance $ 40,000
