4). Gross Wetted Area Inflection Point Identification <br />Gross wetted area was determined with the Weighted Usable Area (WUA) <br />module of RHABSIM. WUA represents some aspect of fish habitat availability and is <br />typically presented in units of area, i.e. square feet of usable habitat per 1000 ft of stream. <br />Gross wetted area (GWA) is simply the surface area of the river that is watered and <br />therefore it does not represent fish habitat availability. GWA is a composite of the <br />width/flow relationships for all cross sections (riffles, runs and pools) times the distances <br />between adjacent cross sections. The relationship between GWA and flow is therefore <br />two dimensional, and it further defines how channel morphology influences flow <br />characteristics of the river. <br />GWA was determined for 6 clusters in Strata 6, and 6 clusters in strata 8 (Figure <br />4). The inflection point was identified to be at 150 cfs for Strata 6 and 150 cfs for Strata <br />8. When all clusters were combined the inflection point was at 150 cfs. Strata 8 has <br />higher GWA at all modeled flows compared to Strata 6. At 150 cfs the GWA for Strata 8 <br />was 16.5% higher than at Strata 6 (199,336 versus 171,117). <br />32 <br />
