The first forum was successfully held at the University of
Southern Colorado in January 1995, and has been held annually ever since. Further information on the forum is
available on-line at: http://ARBWF.info
Colorado Southeast Network
Colorado Southeast Network is a project created and sponsored by Southeast Colorado RC&D to provide information
about many areas of community activity in southeast Colorado. The information is maintained on the Internet site:
http:/[SoutheastColorado.info
Information is organized into five major community sectors that include: Business, Government, Education, Health
Care, and Service Organizations. The site provides information useful for residents, persons relocating to the area, and
visitors.
Fort Lyon Correctional Facility Historical Research and Inventory
Southeast Colorado RC&D recently assisted the Pioneer Historical Society of Bent County, the Department of Veterans
Affairs, and the Colorado Department of Corrections in the development of a project to complete activities required by
the
Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act at Fort Lyon.
The Fort Lyon military reservation was established in 1862 as a military post on the Santa Fe Trail during the early
period of
European settlement in southeast Colorado. It later served as a US Navy tuberculosis hospital after World War II, and
subsequently as a Veterans Administration Medical Center. The facility is now being converted for use by the Colorado
Department of Corrections as a nursing facility for elderly and infirm inmates.
Boggsville Historic Site
Boggsville was the first non-forted settlement in the southeast Colorado area. In 1985, the Pioneer Historical Society
of Bent
County acquired the site and began the preservation, reconstruction and interpretation of the remaining structures at
http://www.co.nres.usda.gov/partnerships/rcd/sercd.htm 5/27/2005
