The first forum was successfully held at the University of <br />Southern Colorado in January 1995, and has been held annually ever since. Further information on the forum is <br />available on-line at: http://ARBWF.info <br />Colorado Southeast Network <br />Colorado Southeast Network is a project created and sponsored by Southeast Colorado RC&D to provide information <br />about many areas of community activity in southeast Colorado. The information is maintained on the Internet site: <br />http:/[SoutheastColorado.info <br />Information is organized into five major community sectors that include: Business, Government, Education, Health <br />Care, and Service Organizations. The site provides information useful for residents, persons relocating to the area, and <br />visitors. <br />Fort Lyon Correctional Facility Historical Research and Inventory <br />Southeast Colorado RC&D recently assisted the Pioneer Historical Society of Bent County, the Department of Veterans <br />Affairs, and the Colorado Department of Corrections in the development of a project to complete activities required by <br />the <br />Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act at Fort Lyon. <br />The Fort Lyon military reservation was established in 1862 as a military post on the Santa Fe Trail during the early <br />period of <br />European settlement in southeast Colorado. It later served as a US Navy tuberculosis hospital after World War II, and <br />subsequently as a Veterans Administration Medical Center. The facility is now being converted for use by the Colorado <br />Department of Corrections as a nursing facility for elderly and infirm inmates. <br />Boggsville Historic Site <br />Boggsville was the first non-forted settlement in the southeast Colorado area. In 1985, the Pioneer Historical Society <br />of Bent <br />County acquired the site and began the preservation, reconstruction and interpretation of the remaining structures at <br />http://www.co.nres.usda.gov/partnerships/rcd/sercd.htm 5/27/2005 <br />
