La Plata Water Conservancy District Agenda Item 26a. <br />November 19-20, 2001 (Updated December 4, 2001) <br />Water Project Construction Program — Project Data <br />Non-Reimbursable Investment <br />Applicant: La Plata Water Conservancy District <br />Project Name: Water Storage Facility Feasibility Study <br />(La Plata River Water Management Program) <br />Long Hollow and Red Mesa Ward Reservoirs <br />Project Type: Feasibility Study and Project Design <br />County: La Plata <br />Total Study Cost: $664,055 <br />Drainage Basin: La Plata <br />Funding Sources: U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, Southwest WCD, CWCB, and <br />Animas-La Plata WCD. <br />Type of Applicant: Agricultural <br />CWCB Funding: $444,645 <br />Median Household Income: N/A <br />La Plata Water Conservancy District (LPWCD) has requested non-reimbursable <br />funding in amount of $444,645 to cover 67% of the cost of studies to develop improved <br />water management and usage in the La Plata River Basin. To date, others have <br />expended $219,410 on this project. This phase involves a feasibility study to evaluate <br />construction of a new reservoir on Long Hollow at the lower end of the basin and to <br />evaluate enlargement the existing Red Mesa Ward Reservoir. The Long Hollow <br />Reservoir would allow for improved administration of the La Plata River Compact while <br />enlargement of the Red Mesa Ward Reservoir would �rovide stora e that would benefit <br />�, <br />water users within the basin M; �, �.. �� �� � <br />, k��� .�� �� This study and project are considered to be of statewide <br />concern since the purpose is to resolve issues associated with one of Colorado's <br />interstate compacts. <br />(See location map on reverse) <br />
