Non-reimbursable Funding Recommendation
I am pleased to inform you that the Colorado Water Conservation Board (CWCB) has
recommended your funding request to the General Assembly for approval. Your request will
be included in the Board's year 2002 Water Project Construction Bill. Funds will be authorized
in spring 2002, once the Governor has signed #he bill. I understand the funds will be used to
conduct a feasibility study to evaluate construction of the Long Hollow Reservoir and to
evaluate enlargement of the Red Mesa Ward Reservoir, and for actual design work on those
finro projects.
The Board recommended non-reimbursable funding from the Construction Fund in a
maximum amount of $444,645. 1 have attached a copy of the updated Board memo
concerning the La Plata Water Conservancy District. Please refer to page 2 of that memo and
to the section "Action taken by the CWCB November 20, 2001."
When the Board recommended this non-reimbursable funding, several conditions remained:
a) A Revised Scope of Work is Required. The scope of work must be expanded to address
the economic, financial, and institutional aspects of the project, so that the study can be
used as the basis for future project funding. John Van Sciver of the CWCB Staff will work
with you to develop a scope of work that meets these requirements.
