Authority exists in the Law and Funds have been budgeted, appropriated and otherwise <br />made available, the sufficient unencumbered balance thereof remains available for <br />payment of a total of $50,000.00 from Fund No. 424, APPR. EDU, Program WTRC, GBL <br />EDUO, Object Code 5881, Contract Encumbrance No. C150046. <br />B. Required approval, clearance, and coordination have been accomplished from and with <br />appropriate agencies. <br />C. Section 37-60-121(1)(b)(IV), C.R.S., authorizes the CWCB to make grants from the <br />CWCB Construction Fund with specific authorization from the General Assembly. <br />D. At its March 2000 meeting, the CWCB approved expending up to $115,000 from the <br />CWCB Construction Fund in support of a water education initiative for intermediate grade <br />students and households throughout Colorado beginning in the 2000/2001 school year. <br />Further, in accordance with the approval, the CWCB shall enter into a contract with the <br />Contractor, manager of the Learning to be WaterWise Resource Action Program (said <br />Program hereinafter referred to as the "PRO�ECr'), under the following conditions (1) that <br />the cost of the program would be shared on a basis of 50% from the CWCB and 50% <br />from local sources; (2) the curriculum would include appropriate lesson plans developed <br />by WaterWise Colorado, Project WET, CWCB staff, or any other entity as approved by the <br />CWCB Director; (3) effectiveness would be measured through pre- and post-testing; and <br />(4) the Contractor shall report to the CWCB at regular Board meetings. <br />E. Pursuant to H.B. 00-1419, Section 24, the General Assembly authorized $115,000 to the <br />CWCB to participate in a water education program for K-12 students and citizens <br />throughout Colorado. The purposes of the program are to develop and integrate a <br />Colorado water education curriculum into existing education programs; identify <br />mechanisms to distribute a water education curriculum to effectively supplement or <br />coordinate with other private and public water education programs; and convert the <br />curriculum to compact disc format for statewide distribution. In furtherance of this <br />program, the CWCB may develop its own curriculum and distribution systems or use <br />existing curriculum reviewed and approved by educators and water user groups and <br />existing distribution networks. <br />Paqe 1 of 7 <br />
