Operating Criteria Adopted for Narrows heservoir
River operational Studies were developed to attain the most
efficient utilization of the present water supply together with
futures increased flows resulting from operation of the Colorado-
Big Thompson and the potential }flue -south klatte Projects. `Ihe in-
creased flows entering the 6outh Platte River above "arrows aeservoir
are those flows accruing to the river after full upytrea:il development.
such development involves the annual importation of approximately
240,000 acre -feet by the Colorado-big Thompson Project, 430,000 acre-
feet by the Blue -south Platte t'ro ject, and ultimi.te development of
the i 1 offat Tunnel 6yetera by the city of Denver.
Upstream depletions above Narrows, after :full development, are
represented by the consumptive uses of 400,000 acres of existing lands
under the Colorado -bia Thompson, 263,800 acres of existing and X33,200
acres of new land under the blue -south Platte, and the benver iietro-
politan Area with a population of one million.
Increased flows resulting; from Nestern Slope importation and
u,- represent the new source of water rupply entering the Narrows
section. This supply was added to they historical flows at Kersey
to give the total available water supply for the period of study.
The combined flows at Kersey were treated as natural flows and
administered according to the doctrine of priority. inasmuch as
senior rights are now within the Northern Colorado +pater ; -*onservancy
istrict, these requirements were supplied before any new lands
>1ere -- onsidered.
