ARKANSAS RIVER BASIN <br />Arkansas River at Great Bend, Kansas <br />Location, Site of gaging st -tion, lot. 38 long. 98 half a mile south of Great Bend. <br />Drainage area* 33,986 square miles. <br />Records available. At site, October 1940 to December 1949, in reports of Geological Survey. <br />Estimates. Jantvry to March, November to December in 1923 and 1924, and January to February, 1925; discharge computed <br />Fn basis of records for Arlansas River near Larned (drainage area, 30,841 square miles) and correlation curve derived <br />for these periods 1925 -40. <br />April to October in 1923 and 1924, March 1925 to September 1940; discharge computed on basis of sum of records <br />for station st Larned and Pawnee River near Larned (combined drainage area, 33,417 square miles) plus estimete for <br />ungaged area (569 square miles) based on rough correlation of runoff from the area of 1,080 square miles between <br />station at Great Bend and Arkansas River near Kinsley plus Pawnee River near Larned during the period 1944 -49. <br />January to February 1924; monthly discharges for reference gage near Larned were computed from fragmentary gage - <br />height record and weather records. <br />April to October in 1923 and 1924, June 1927; discharges for reference gage on Pawnee River near Larned were <br />computed from rqugh oorrelation of rainfall- runoff relation based on monthly records for three precipitation <br />stations, with allowsnoe for antecedent conditions of soil moisture. <br />Remarks.- Diversions above station for irrigation. <br />Monthly and oalendar -year discharge, in aore -feet <br />YEAR <br />JAN. <br />FEB. <br />MAR. <br />APR. <br />MAY <br />JUNE <br />JULY <br />AUG.
