SARCHET: "It seemed to us that this site selection <br />affected the people in the Morgan.County area <br />more than it does up here and I think that I <br />would like to hear from those people first before <br />I ask some questions and make some comments. I <br />think those people are more vitally affected by <br />the choice between the Narrows or the Weld County <br />sites and I would suggest that maybe we hear from <br />them before I make my comments or ask questions." <br />MR. GILDERSLEEVE: <br />"Well, Mr. Osborne, you're from Morgan <br />County." <br />MR. OSBORNE: <br />"I'll start out very briefly and state it <br />this way. There are problems as far as Morgan <br />County is concerned and other people are of - <br />fected indirectly as their interests might <br />be as to the geographical location of our irri- <br />gated lands in Morgan County, the prospective <br />additional usage on underground recharge and <br />that sort of thing. And due to the fact that <br />the river, of course, runs downhill we are in <br />the position to give service to the bulk of the <br />Morgan County irrigated lands, and also the lands <br />that are susceptible to more intensive irrigation <br />and perhaps some enlargement if the water supply <br />did become available in the future. Also to the <br />larger portion of the lands that are critically <br />short of water in some years. I'd say in our <br />plentiful water years we get along right well <br />but on the real short water years, we have in the <br />neighborhood of 45,000 acres of land that become <br />-5- <br />
