R E S O L U T I O N <br />WHEREAS, it has been proposed by the Buraan of Reclamation of the Depart <br />ment of the Interior of the Unit.a otates to build a reservoir near Fort gorgan, <br />('..toi•ado. ,+. ua%.%4_ _� fn:iovrn as the Narrows site, to have a total capacity of <br />1 acre feet, of which 250,000 acre feet would be for flood control ;and <br />THEREAS, the matter is being considered by the Colorado Conservation Board <br />with a view to making recommendations of behalf of Colorado respecting such <br />project, <br />NOU, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED: <br />That said Board should represent the position of Colorado to be as follows: <br />1: From the stgr dppint of flood cAntro�, a 4Wben Rf email rpsprypirs <br />to control tributaries before damage is done should' be �49 ougY ly it vpstigated <br />as a substitute for the Marrows Reservoir. <br />2. Consideration should be given to moving the Narrows Reservoir 'tq a <br />nearby site fear construction pp a much smaller plan which wjll overcome damage <br />to the q#iting gconpmy which wg4 pq djsT goated by t #e Fps}$ r ruo#pn o f t h p <br />presently'proposed reservoir. <br />3. That this organization believes that priority should be given to the <br />Chatfield flood control project over the Narrows Reservoir project because said <br />former project will give upstream protection between its location and the <br />location of the Narrows Reservoir, and after its construction, experience may <br />demonstrate that is construction together with construction of other upstream <br />reservoirs will make it possible to greatly economize on the construction of a <br />reservoir at or near the Narrows site. <br />4. Construction of higher reservoirs will tend to benefit downstream <br />irrigation thus producing incidental benefits from the headwaters through the <br />entire length of the Platte River in Colorado, as well as gaining the benefit <br />of more complete flood control protection. <br />Robert F.
