In addition to the population growth pressures, the District's smaller communities, <br /> especially those east of Pueblo who rely on groundwater for their main water <br /> supply, need to develop a higher quality drinking water supply for their residents. <br /> Additional water storage will help them do that. And, additional storage will help <br /> communities better manage the water they have already developed. The state of <br /> Colorado is also developing a water - banking program for the Arkansas River <br /> basin. Long -term, the success of the water bank will depend on additional <br /> storage. <br /> Support for the PSOP and H.R. 3881- -The District's Preferred Storage Options <br /> Plan was crafted to meet these diverse, regional needs. And, it has local, <br /> regional, and statewide support.
