The plan contains no specific information about Chatfield and when Denver Water will ask the Board for a Drought
Declaration and allow the pool to be drawn down. Denver Water has, however, provided some elevation information it
would like us to consider in making a declaration decision:

Elevation
5,421.41
5,414.63
5,401.23

Total Reservoir Stora e Reduction
1,600 AF
6,400 AF
14,400 AF

We have been consulting with the Corps of Engineers, Denver Water, and State Parks regarding the operations below
elevation 5432.0. The State Engineer Office in cooperation with the Corps set the release levels at for the conservation
pool below elevation 5432.0.

We agree as a result of this consultation that Denver's drought plan applies to all its reservoirs. Thus, if the average
level of storage of all Denver's reservoirs is less than 40 percent, they are in a severe drought and Chatfield should be
used for water supply regardless of the impacts to the recreational activities at Chatfield Reservoir.

However, Denver has not yet declared that it is in a "severe" drought at all its reservoirs, but it is approaching a severe
drought with respect to the current water level in Chatfield. The current water level is 5429.53 on July 15, 2002. When
the elevation drops below 5417.0, the State will begin incurring additional operational costs for pumping irrigation
water into the Last Chance Ditch.

th

Denver Water's Reservoir levels posted on web site as of Julv 14
South Inflow (cfs) Outflow Elevation Storage Full Elev.
