8.0 PROJECT ANALYSIS
8.1 Water Rishts
The water rights associated with the Klein Farm are currently under contract and closing is expected
to occur in December 2009. This acquisition includes five shares of LLDC, two and seven-eighths
shares of LLRC, two irrigation wells plus approximately 240 acres of land with improvements. The
LLRC shares have little consumptive use value, as the shares are used for supplementing the LLDC
shares, which is typical of the entire Latham irrigation system. A historical consumptive use (HCU)
analysis concluded that the LLRC shares contributed 4.8 percent to the total HCU for the farm.
Results of the HCU analysis for the Klein water rights determined a total of 292.9 acre-feet of HCU
for the entire farm and that an average of 278.8 acre-feet of consumptive use (95.2 percent of the
total HCU) can be expected in a change of use of the five LLDC shares. Figure 2 shows the general
location of the Klein Farm parcel along with the Schmidt Site.
-7-
