SUBJECT: Water Efficiency Grant Fund Recommendation for Security Water District
Summary of Grant Application
The Office of Water Conservation & Drought Planning ( OWCDP) received a Water Efficiency
Grant Fund application from Security Water District, a covered entity located in El Paso County.
Security Water District is requesting $23,265 to develop a water conservation plan that will
comply with §37 -60 -126 C.R.S. and build on previous water conservation planning efforts.
Security Water District is located in the Arkansas Basin where SWSI identified an 18% gap
between water needs and supplies by 2025. Water conservation will be vital in helping Security
Water District to extend its renewable water supplies and avoid significant dependence on
groundwater.
Security Water District has pledged 29% matching funds in the form of cash and in -kind
services. OWCDP staff has reviewed and evaluated the grant application and has determined
that the proposal meets or exceeds the CWCB guidelines for reviewing grant proposals. Attached
is the internal checklist used to evaluate the application.
Recommendation
The OWCDP staff recommends that Jennifer Gimbel, Director of the CWCB, authorize a Water
Efficiency Grant in the amount of $23,265 for Security Water District to develop a water
conservation plan in accordance with §37 -60 -126 C.R.S.
