3.0 ALTERNATIVES EVALUATED
Several alternatives to rehabilitate/stabilize the inlet ditch were considered to compare feasibility and
estimated implementation costs. The alternatives were developed following a site inspection of the
area.
The alternatives considered include:
• Alternative 1— Existing condition Stabilization
• Alternative 2— Reconstruction Along Existing Alignment '
• Alternative 3— Reconstruction Along New Partial Alignment
• Alternative 4— New Conduit Along North Alignment
A brief description of the alternatives is provided below.
Alternative 1— Stabilization
• Stabilize existing inlet structures and approach ditch
• Cut back ditch side slopes, reclaim the side slopes and fence
l- Alternative 2— Reconstruction Along Existing Alignment f'S+PCPC 'C 4-' "
• Demolish and re-construct existing inlet and drop structures
. Remove rubble in inlet ditch
• Cut back ditch side slopes
• Fill areas in existing ditch channel bottom (as required)
• Construct new CIP concrete inlet chute (IOH:I V minimum longitudinal slope)
and stilling basin (on fill; final design to balance cut and fill)
Alternative 3— Reconstruction Along New Partial Alignment
Similar to Alternative 2 except on a new alignment. This will require a new inlet structure off of the
ditch instead of re-construction of the existing inlet structures. This alternative does not require as
much fill or removal of debris as Alternative 2. However, it does require the acquisition of a new
easement or the purchase of additional land.
• Construct a new CIP concrete inlet structure off of the Poudre Valley Canal.
• Cut back ditch side slopes, reclaim the side slopes and fence.
• Fill areas in the existing ditch channel bottom (as required)
• Construct a new CIP concrete inlet chute (approximately l OH:I V longitudinal
slope) and stilling basin (in cut)
• Construct two (2) new four (4) foot high CIP concrete ar grouted riprap drop
structures.
