For instance, the Arkansas Headwaters <br />Recreation Area estimates -400,000 visits in 2007 for land- <br />based recreation such as sightseeing and birding. <br />The study area's three birding HUCs are show in dark gray <br />on the map at left. Birding HUCs are along: the Clear Creek <br />drainage; the South Cottonwood Creek drainage; and the <br />area north of Salida that includes Mt. Shavano State Sand <br />Lake SWA and Fish Hatchery / Frantz Lake SWA. <br />Significant waterfowl hunting also occurs at the Clear Creek <br />Reservoir SWA, depicted by the grey square on the map. <br />Page 21 of 42
